Budget Travel Tips

1.  An inexpensive way to purchase sodas while visiting a theme park or other attraction is to purchase one large soda with no ice and two cups of ice (most places offer ice for free).   Pour the large soda into the two cups of ice.  Voila!  You have two sodas for the price of one. There will still be a little soda left in the original container.

2.  Bring along Country Time To Go, Koolaid on the go, or any other individual size drink mixes.  These are great for tossing into a purse, backpack, or fanny pack.  Ask for a cup of ice water (again, free most places) and mix.  Great economical alternative to sodas!

3.  Share meals.  Most family entertainment venues serve large portions.

4.  Keep a cooler full of drinks in your car.  This can be a great money saver not just while on vacation, but all of the time.  We all know that drinks are a huge expense any time you eat take-out or drive-thru.  Having your own drinks on hand is not only economical, but a healthier alternative.  It is also a nice treat after a long day traipsing around a theme park, or other attraction.

5.  If your vacation destination requires any type of admission ticket, be sure to check for any available discounts in advance.

6.  Online hotel booking sites are a wonderful invention.  There have been multiple occasions when our family has relied on one of these sites.  We have always stayed in nice hotels at huge discounts.  Personally, I like to use the bidding feature.  I feel you get a much better deal that way.  We usually wait until the last possible minute to book.  This gives you a much better rate because hotels had rather rent the room for very little money rather than have it sit empty.

7.  Join restaurant email clubs approximately one month before you travel.  Most places will send coupons to your email.  You can print these discounts and take them with you to save on food!

8.  Consider signing up for Groupon in the area where you will be traveling.  This site offers great local discounts on dining and entertainment.

9.  If staying at a resort or hotel that has a laundry facility, be sure to bring a full-size container of detergent. Another option is to pack some of your single-use Tide packs that you have gotten for free by couponing!  This will save quite a few dollars by the end of your stay.  Washing your own laundry not only allows you to pack fewer clothes, but gives you the opportunity to go home with no extra laundry to do!

10.  If your local Winn Dixie offers Fuel Perks, be sure to sign up.  You can save a bundle on gas!

11.  Educator's get in FREE at Sea World !!!! Be sure to check their website for further details.
